Terms of Service
Last updated June 4, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Plan My Transfer ("Plan My Transfer," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
The service
Plan My Transfer is a free web tool that reads articulation agreements from ASSIST.org and compares them with the courses you enter to estimate your progress toward UC and CSU majors, suggest semester-by-semester plans, and answer questions through an AI assistant. We are an independent project and are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by ASSIST.org, the University of California, or the California State University.
Not academic advice
Plan My Transfer is an informational tool — not academic, admissions, or legal advice. Articulation data changes, our parsing of it can be incomplete or wrong, and eligibility depends on factors we don't evaluate (AP/IB/CLEP credit, foreign coursework, academic renewal, impacted-major GPA thresholds, and more). Always verify results with ASSIST.org and a counselor at your community college and the receiving university before relying on them. We don't guarantee admission or that any plan will satisfy transfer requirements.
Eligibility and accounts
- You must be at least 13 years old to use the service.
- Provide accurate account information and keep it current.
- You're responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your login credentials secure.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- break the law or infringe anyone's rights;
- attempt to access accounts or data that aren't yours;
- disrupt or overload the service, or probe it for vulnerabilities without our permission;
- scrape, crawl, harvest, spider, or use bots or other automated means to access, index, or copy the service or any of its data;
- extract, copy, store, republish, redistribute, sell, sublicense, or otherwise make available any of our compiled, parsed, or structured data, in whole or in part;
- use the service, its output, or its data to build, train, or improve a competing product, service, dataset, or machine-learning model;
- reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to reconstruct or derive our underlying data, source code, or methods; or
- misuse the AI assistant — for example, to generate harmful content or to bulk-extract the underlying data.
The AI assistant
The transfer assistant generates responses using a third-party AI model and the context you provide. It can produce inaccurate or incomplete information and is offered for convenience only. Don't enter sensitive personal information into it, and verify anything important independently.
Cost
Plan My Transfer is free to use, and every feature is included at no charge. We may change what the service offers over time.
Intellectual property
The service — including its design, code, and original content — belongs to Plan My Transfer. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use it for your own transfer planning, and for no other purpose.
Our data is our core product. While the raw articulation and catalog facts originate from ASSIST.org and its source institutions (and remain subject to their terms), the way we collect, parse, normalize, structure, enrich, and present that information — our resulting dataset, including the eligibility logic and any derived fields — is the result of substantial time and investment and is our proprietary property, protected to the fullest extent permitted by law. Nothing in these Terms or in your use of the service grants you any right to that dataset beyond viewing it through the service for your own planning, and you may not access, copy, or extract it by any means we haven't expressly provided.
The courses, grades, and plans you enter remain yours.
Third-party services
The service relies on and links to third parties, including ASSIST.org, Google/Firebase, and Anthropic. We're not responsible for their content, availability, or practices, and your use of them is governed by their own terms.
Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any result is accurate or complete.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Plan My Transfer and anyone involved in creating or operating it will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your reliance on the service or on results it produces — including missed requirements, delayed transfer, or admissions outcomes. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US $50.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Plan My Transfer from any claims arising out of your misuse of the service or your violation of these Terms.
Termination
We may suspend or end your access at any time, including for violating these Terms. You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time from Settings. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — such as the disclaimers and limitation of liability — will survive.
Changes to these Terms
We may change the service or these Terms. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in California for any dispute that is not otherwise subject to an agreed form of resolution.
